A 14-year-old boy has been arrested on suspicion of a public order offence and bailed after a social media video appeared to show a Coventry City fan taunting Sunderland supporters with a photograph of Bradley Lowery. The footage was reportedly filmed during Saturday’s Premier League match between the clubs.

The teenager handed himself in to West Midlands Police, who are investigating the incident. Coventry City said it was also reviewing the footage and would work with the relevant authorities to determine an appropriate response.

Bradley, a Sunderland supporter, died aged six in 2017 after being diagnosed with a rare childhood cancer. His mother, Gemma, said in a post on Instagram that seeing a memory of her son used in what she described as a cruel way had caused her pain.

In an update shared through the Bradley Lowery Foundation, which supports children with cancer, she said Bradley deserved to be remembered with love. She also said she did not want people to direct hatred at the teenager, but hoped he would learn from his actions.

West Midlands Police said they understood the distress caused by the video and were keeping Bradley’s family informed as the investigation continued.
