Mattia Bellucci advanced to the second round of the Paris Masters after defeating fellow Italian Lorenzo Sonego 6-3, 6-4. Bellucci produced a convincing performance and could next face Argentina’s Francisco Cerundolo or France’s Arthur Rinderknech.
Matteo Arnaldi, meanwhile, was knocked out by Britain’s Cameron Norrie, who won 6-4, 1-6, 6-3. Arnaldi dominated the second set, but Norrie secured the decisive break in the fifth game of the third and protected his advantage with an effective serve.
Norrie’s reward is a second-round meeting with American Ben Shelton, the world No. 4 and third seed in the tournament.
