The Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) announced Wednesday that Botafogo midfielder Danilo had been withdrawn from the national team squad after injuring the adductor muscle in his right thigh. No player will be called up to replace him.
Danilo began feeling pain during Botafogo’s match against Internacional on Saturday, the report said, and was substituted. He then missed the team’s next game against Remo.
Botafogo confirmed the injury on Wednesday night, before facing Atlético-MG. Danilo had been selected for Brazil’s matches against Japan on the 14th and Singapore on the 17th.
