Carlos Alcaraz has kept his 2027 schedule open, although the Vienna Open currently appears to be his preferred choice for one particular week of the season.
The Spaniard was asked whether he would return to Vienna to defend the title he won after accepting a last-minute wildcard. Alcaraz avoided making a firm commitment, stressing that plans can change over the course of a year.
“Who knows which tournaments I’m gonna play next year, but if I have to play this week, Vienna is probably on the top of the list,” he said.
Alcaraz also praised his experience at the tournament, saying he felt comfortable throughout the week and highlighting the support from the fans and the event organisers.
The former world number one had previously suggested that he might reduce the number of tournaments he plays. However, he has already been confirmed for the 2027 Rotterdam Open and Queen’s tournaments.
He is also expected to compete at all four Grand Slam events, while his participation in the Masters 1000 series remains less certain. Alcaraz has criticised the expanded Masters format and has indicated that he could miss more of those tournaments in 2027.
He has not played the Canadian Open during the past two seasons. This year, injuries also kept him out of Madrid, Rome and Cincinnati.
Alcaraz is currently competing at the Paris Masters. If he fails to win the tournament, he will finish the season without a Masters title for the first time since 2021.
