Como’s 9-1 victory away to Lens has set a new record for the biggest away winning margin in Champions League history. The eight-goal difference is the first of its kind in the competition, surpassing the previous record of seven, achieved on four occasions by Bayern, Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain.

The margin also matches the largest ever recorded in a Champions League match. Liverpool beat Beşiktaş 8-0 on November 6, 2007, and Real Madrid defeated Malmö by the same score on December 8, 2015.

Como forward Anastasios Douvikas is now the competition’s sole leading scorer, with six goals, ahead of Haaland and Tresoldi.
