Flavio Cobolli has reassured fans that he expects to compete at the Paris Masters, which begins tomorrow. The Italian said he would undergo medical tests and provide an update as soon as possible after retiring from his match against Matteo Berrettini in Vienna.
Cobolli said he felt something during their match but tried to continue. He stopped after deciding that playing on would mean pushing himself too hard.
In a message to fans, Cobolli said he was sorry to leave Vienna that way, adding that he had been eager to play Berrettini in front of the spectators. He explained that his tears were not caused by pain, but by emotion, some stress and the disappointment of having to leave the court.
