Geoffroy Roux de Bézieux has been appointed president of the organizing committee for the French Alps 2030 Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games. The decision was made on Thursday, October 29, by the committee’s executive board, whose members include the French state, the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes and Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur regions, and the country’s Olympic and Paralympic committees.

Roux de Bézieux, who led MEDEF, France’s main employers’ organization, from 2018 to 2023, succeeds Edgar Grospiron. The former Olympic moguls skier resigned on September 10, and the committee’s director general, Vincent Roberti, had handled the interim leadership.

The new president’s central task is to bring stability to an organizing committee that has faced repeated turmoil. Disputes have affected the project since the Winter Games were awarded to France in July 2024, with further internal tensions during Grospiron’s tenure.

Grospiron was appointed in February 2025 after former biathlete Martin Fourcade declined the role, citing disagreements over governance and the project’s direction. Following months of upheaval and Grospiron’s departure, the executive board sought a new candidate to lead the committee.
