Viktor Gyökeres made a decisive contribution as Arsenal beat Slavia Prague 2-1 in Europe, scoring once and assisting Noni Madueke’s early opener. Slavia pulled a goal back in the final minute of normal time, making for a nervy finish, but Arsenal held on to extend their unbeaten run in away European matches to 10.
Madueke put Arsenal ahead after eight minutes. David Raya’s long pass bounced beyond the Slavia defence, allowing Gyökeres to win the ball and set up the England forward. It was Gyökeres’ third assist in his last five appearances.
The Swedish striker doubled the lead seven minutes before half-time, combining with Mikel Merino before curling a shot into the far corner. Slavia defender Michal Sadilek cleared another Arsenal effort off the line soon afterwards.
Slavia pressed harder after the break and tested Arsenal’s defence in the closing stages. Gabriel Magalhães cleared two headers off the line from a corner, while Raya pushed Oskar Kubiak’s attempt onto the post. Wiktor Nowak then scored at the far post in the 90th minute, but Arsenal survived the remaining stoppage time.
The result leaves Slavia with 23 consecutive matches without a win in the European Cup and Champions League, matching the longest such run set by AEK Athens and FCSB, formerly Steaua Bucharest. Arsenal have not lost an away European match since May 2025.
