Jack Grealish is poised to miss his third successive game for Everton when David Moyes’s side visit Newcastle on Monday night.

The playmaker was left out of Everton’s Carabao Cup victory over Matthias Jaissle’s team last Thursday for disciplinary reasons after missing a training session without permission before the fourth-round tie. He had also missed the previous match, a Premier League defeat by Arsenal, because of illness.

Everton travelled to the north-east without Grealish, who returned to the club from Manchester City on a second loan deal this summer. The 31-year-old has remained on Merseyside to work on his fitness at Everton’s Finch Farm training ground.

Moyes has not confirmed when the England international will again be considered for selection.
