Lazio moved to the top of Serie A on their own after overcoming Cagliari 2-1 at home. The victory extended the team’s unbeaten run and gave Rino Gattuso’s side sole leadership of the standings for the first time since the 2010/11 campaign, when Edy Reja was coach.
Cagliari took the lead when Fadera found space for Nzola, who finished with his left foot. Lazio struggled to create clear openings after falling behind, but Isaksen restored parity before halftime with a left-footed shot into the far corner. It was his fourth goal in the last five matches.
The second half was largely controlled by Lazio, with Taylor and Isaksen both going close. The winning goal arrived through substitute Andrea Pinamonti, who headed in Pedraza’s cross after a shot from Dele-Bashiru had been blocked by Deiola’s face.
Cagliari finished the match with 10 players after Obert was sent off for a second booking. Lazio held on to secure their ninth victory in their last 10 games and move three points clear of Inter, who had lost the derby.
