Bayern Munich beat Atlético Madrid 2-0, with Lennart Karl breaking the deadlock in the 54th minute and Konrad Laimer scoring the second. The result followed a largely dominant display from Bayern, who recorded 19 shots and held close to 70% of possession before half-time.

Atlético began with an early effort from Julián Alvarez, but Bayern soon controlled the ball and restricted their opponents’ opportunities. Atlético’s Alexander Sørloth had few chances, while Bayern worked to find openings against a defence that held firm through the first half.

Harry Kane was involved in several attacks but did not score. He set up a chance for Karl, sent a volley wide and had another attempt blocked by David Hancko. Bayern goalkeeper Jan Oblak made his first save shortly after the restart, denying Joshua Kimmich.

The breakthrough came after a deflected shot from Tom Bischof fell between Robin Le Normand and Marc Pubill. As the Atlético defenders failed to take control, Karl claimed the ball and sent it past Oblak.

Atlético responded with substitutions and created a chance for Marcos Llorente, whose effort forced Manuel Neuer into a save. Bayern continued to threaten, however, and Laimer put a shot wide before Dayot Upamecano hit the crossbar with a deflected attempt.

Laimer settled the match after Alphonso Davies won possession from a tiring Llorente. Kane then played the ball to Laimer on the right, and the Austrian created space with a feint before firing into the top of the net. Kane had one more attempt, which went over the bar, as Bayern completed the win.
