LIV Golf’s attempt to relaunch after filing for bankruptcy has failed after prospective lead investor BC Partners withdrew, according to multiple reports. The private equity firm reportedly struggled to persuade several prominent players to commit to the circuit’s future.

Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund had invested about $5 billion in LIV Golf since 2022, attracting several stars before abruptly withdrawing its support earlier this year. The circuit is now expected to see its remaining assets liquidated.

Several former LIV players, including Jon Rahm, have announced in recent weeks that they will not join a proposed new version of the tour. Bryson DeChambeau, its biggest name, has not publicly committed to returning.

The relaunch effort also faced a setback after the DP World Tour reversed a policy that had allowed golfers to compete in events on both circuits. Bankruptcy filings put LIV’s estimated debts at between $500 million and $1 billion, owed to at least 1,000 creditors, including leading players.
