Liverpool made five changes to their starting lineup for their Champions League match against Fenerbahce in Istanbul. Joe Gomez and Kostas Tsimikas are among those coming into the first XI, while Florian Wirtz and Alexander Isak start on the bench.

Liverpool’s lineup is Alisson; Gomez, Jacquet, Van Dijk, Tsimikas; Mac Allister, Nyoni; Munoz, Szoboszlai, Ngumoha; and Barcola. The substitutes are Mamardashvili, Woodman, Kerkez, Wirtz, Isak, Gakpo, Araujo, Chambers, McConnell, Danns and Koumas.

Fenerbahce name Ederson; Nelson Semedo, Skriniar, Oppong, Brown; Guendouzi, Kante, Yuksek; Greenwood, Lukaku and Kahveci. Their substitutes are Tarik Cetin, Gunok, Akturkoglu, Demir, Muldur, Muriqi, Mercan, Elmaz, Dorgeles, Aydin and Mimovic. Clement Turpin of France is the referee.

Liverpool head coach Andoni Iraola said regular changes were needed with matches coming every three or four days. He added that his side would need to be mobile and look to attack available space, and said a win would put Liverpool in a strong position for the second half of the league phase.

Liverpool arrive after a Premier League defeat by Arsenal in which they failed to record a shot on target, according to Opta. The team have won all their European matches this season so far. Earlier on Wednesday, Liverpool’s Under-19s beat Fenerbahce 5-3, with Will Wright scoring a hat-trick.
