Lorenzo Musetti praised his performance after defeating Alexander Zverev in Paris, where the German suffered his first loss as world No. 1. Musetti said he had played at an “incredible” level, particularly against an opponent who served very well in the first set.
Musetti said he produced four strong points in the tie-break after falling behind 2-5. In the second set, he gradually found his way into the rallies and began to dictate play. He also credited courage and a touch of luck for a perfect return.
The Italian added that his serve has been working well. He said he has used his slice more than usual, especially on the backhand side, explaining that the low bounce makes it difficult for opponents to get under the ball and control their shots. When that tactic works, he said, it gives him the chance to take charge of rallies with his forehand.
