The countdown to the 2027 America's Cup has reached a new milestone in Naples. A large clock in Piazza Vittoria, beside the “broken column,” is displaying -200 days until the Louis Vuitton Cup regattas begin on 22 May.

Sport e Salute, the government-appointed body responsible for implementing the event, marked the occasion on its social media channels with a video showing Luna Rossa’s AC40 boats sailing in the Gulf of Naples. The boats had previously featured in September’s preliminary regatta event.

Work is continuing on the bases in Bagnoli, which will host the seven competing teams. So far, only La Roche-Posay Racing Team has begun training, following the official presentation and launch of its AC75. Britain’s GB1 and Switzerland’s Alinghi are expected to join the French team in the coming weeks.

Sport e Salute is also due to present the 2027 master plan to the America’s Cup and other stakeholders by the end of November, in coordination with the Italian government. The plan aims to connect the event’s main locations more closely with the city, linking the Caracciolo waterfront and Castel dell’Ovo with the large village planned for Bagnoli.
