Nearly 8.4 million ticket requests have been submitted for the group-stage match between India and Pakistan at the 2027 ICC Men's Cricket World Cup, according to organisers.
The rivals are scheduled to meet on 10 October at Johannesburg's Wanderers Stadium, which has a capacity of 34,000. The tournament will be co-hosted by South Africa, Zimbabwe and Namibia.
The Wanderers will also host the final on 21 November, attracting almost eight million ticket applications. The opening match, on 7 October, will be a repeat of the 2023 final, in which Australia defeated India in Ahmedabad.
India-Pakistan is among the most anticipated and financially lucrative fixtures in cricket. India have won their last nine meetings, while Pakistan's most recent victory over their rivals came in the 2022 Asia Cup.
Pakistan are drawn alongside Australia, Afghanistan, Zimbabwe and a qualifier. England will share a group with South Africa, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, New Zealand and another qualifier.
The top three teams from each group, along with the best fourth-placed team, will advance to the Super 7 stage. The top four teams in that stage will qualify for the semi-finals.
