Parma claimed their first victory under coach Alberto Gilardino, beating Atalanta 3-0 at home. The result prompted protests from Atalanta’s Curva Nord, whose supporters booed the players and coach Maurizio Sarri at full time.

Atalanta controlled much of the first half but failed to convert their chances. Parma took the lead six minutes before the break when Giovanni Fabbian headed in from a corner. Atalanta came close to equalising through Nicola Zalewski before half-time.

An own goal by Davide Zappacosta early in the second half gave Parma a 2-0 advantage. Eighteen-year-old Lontani then added a third in the 13th minute, firing into the corner from the edge of the area. Atalanta created further opportunities, but could not get on the scoresheet.

Atalanta remain on 11 points, while Parma moved to eight, level with Fiorentina and Sassuolo in the standings. Atalanta’s next match is against Kairat Almaty in three days.
