Madrid/">Real Madrid preserved their perfect Champions League group-stage record with a stoppage-time winner from Federico Valverde, overcoming AEK Athens 3-2 after the Greek side had threatened an upset. The result left Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain as the only teams to have won all four of their opening matches.

Liverpool’s run of three consecutive victories ended in a 3-2 defeat to Fenerbahce. The visitors led twice, but were pegged back before Vedat Muriqi scored the winning goal. Dirk Kuyt, a former Liverpool favourite, is now in charge of the Turkish side.

Earlier, AEK had held Madrid at 1-1 after Jude Bellingham scored with a flick. Kylian Mbappé also found the net for Madrid before Valverde settled the match in stoppage time. Liverpool likewise faced a back-and-forth contest: Cody Gakpo’s mistake allowed Archie Brown to bring Fenerbahce level at 2-2, before Muriqi’s late winner.

The evening’s later fixtures included Arsenal away to Slavia Prague and Manchester City at RB Leipzig. Arsenal could reach 10 points from their first four Champions League matches with a win. City made five changes from the side that lost 1-0 at home to Brighton, with Phil Foden and Nico O’Reilly among those coming into the team.

Other scheduled matches included Borussia Dortmund against Real Betis, Porto versus Napoli, Lens against Como, and PSV against Club Brugge.
