The Golden State Warriors overcame the absence of Stephen Curry, who was held out because of a right knee problem, to defeat the Los Angeles Clippers 124-112. Rookie Yaxel Lendeborg led the way with a career-best 37 points, along with six assists and four rebounds.
The 11th pick in the most recent draft shot 13 of 19 from the field, including six of 11 from three-point range. His performance was the highest-scoring game by a Warriors rookie since Curry posted 42 points against Portland in 2010. Lendeborg’s contribution helped Golden State secure its fourth win of the season after opening the campaign with three defeats. He joked that, if he continues playing at that level, he might even try Curry’s trademark dance moves.
Luka Doncic delivered another standout performance for the Los Angeles Lakers, scoring 45 points and collecting 15 rebounds in a 131-125 victory over the Toronto Raptors. Los Angeles led throughout most of the game but faced a late challenge from Toronto, which was fueled by Jamison Battle’s 15 points in the fourth quarter.
The Boston Celtics earned their fifth consecutive victory by beating the Orlando Magic 108-97. Jayson Tatum paced Boston with 32 points and seven assists, while the Celtics’ defense forced 18 turnovers and converted them into 21 points. Paul George added 17 points, eight assists and two steals.
The Brooklyn Nets recorded their first win of the season, defeating Indiana 98-90. French guard Nolan Traoré contributed 16 points and six assists, while Michael Porter Jr. scored 23 points and grabbed nine rebounds. Day’Ron Sharpe added 15 points and 13 rebounds.
