CD Tenerife announced that striker Jesus de Miguel died at 8 a.m. on Tuesday, November 3, 2026. He was 30. The club said he had joined the team in 2025 and was beginning his third season in Spain’s second division.

De Miguel was taken to hospital after a collision with FC Andorra goalkeeper Jesus Owono during a match on Monday. The incident occurred in the eighth minute of second-half stoppage time, near the center circle, as De Miguel ran toward goal. The match, part of the 12th round of Liga 2, was stopped after the collision.

Tenerife said later on Monday that De Miguel was in stable but serious condition. Overnight, the club reported that his neurological condition had worsened.

The striker’s death prompted tributes from clubs across Spain, including teams from the top division and lower tiers. Tenerife said it was standing with his family, loved ones and supporters as they mourned his death.
