Tenerife striker Jesús de Miguel suffered a cardiac arrest while being taken to hospital after collapsing during a Segunda División match against Andorra in Santa Cruz de Tenerife on Monday. The game was stopped following the incident, which occurred in stoppage time with the score tied 2-2.

Goalkeeper Jesús Owono had moved toward the center circle to deal with a long ball and appeared to hit De Miguel in the chest with his knee. De Miguel remained motionless on the pitch as players from both teams called for medical assistance. Owono was shown a straight red card.

Medical staff treated the 30-year-old on the field for more than five minutes before he was taken away by ambulance. According to local media reports, he suffered a cardiac arrest during the journey and was resuscitated by emergency responders.

Local reports said De Miguel was unconscious in the emergency department at Nuestra Señora de la Candelaria University Hospital. Tenerife said in a statement that his condition was stable but serious.
