Romanian gymnast Ana Barbosu has been banned for two years after failing to meet anti-doping whereabouts requirements on three occasions. The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) upheld the ruling following a hearing in August, dismissing her appeal against the suspension imposed by the International Testing Agency (ITA) in May.

The missed tests took place between September and December 2025. Barbosu’s ban runs from 5 May 2026, when she was provisionally suspended. The ITA oversees World Gymnastics’ anti-doping programme.

Barbosu won bronze in the women’s floor final at the Paris 2024 Games. Her medal is also the subject of a separate case involving World Gymnastics at CAS. The US team challenged Jordan Chiles’ score in the final, which initially led to Chiles taking bronze instead of Barbosu. CAS later upheld a complaint from the Romanian Olympic Committee that the US team’s request had been filed too late, and Barbosu’s bronze was reinstated.

That case remains ongoing, with the next hearing not expected before May 2027.
