Cyprien Sarrazin is targeting a return to competition at Copper Mountain, Colorado, where the first speed event of the alpine skiing World Cup season is scheduled for November 28. The French skier said on Monday that he was “99%” sure he would be at the start of the super-G, adding that his recovery was progressing well.

Sarrazin, now 32, suffered a serious crash during training in Bormio, Italy, on December 27, 2024. After losing control on uneven terrain, he hit the snow and slid into safety nets. He was airlifted to hospital and underwent emergency surgery to relieve an intracranial hematoma.

The injury came after a breakthrough period in his career, including two victories in the downhill at Kitzbühel. His planned return would mark a comeback almost two years after the crash, which he has described as a close brush with death.
