Kimi Antonelli arrived at the Mexican Grand Prix paddock with his sister Maggie as he prepared for a second opportunity to secure the 2026 Formula 1 world championship.
Speaking live to Sky Sport less than an hour before the race, the Mercedes driver thanked the Italian fans watching and said he would do his best to represent the national colours. Antonelli started fourth and needed two points to mathematically guarantee the title.
The Italian said the opening phase of the race would be particularly important, with the decisions made at the start potentially making the difference. He also said he had slept well after feeling exhausted, describing it as his best night of the week.
Antonelli was one of the most anticipated figures in the paddock. He arrived holding hands with his 11-year-old sister Maggie, whose outfit drew attention because it appeared to be inspired by Mexico’s Día de los Muertos celebration. Antonelli wore jeans and a personalised T-shirt.
Their father, Marco, was also at the circuit after travelling to Mexico from Mugello, where he had been working with the family team, Antonelli Motorsport.
