Arthur Fils has qualified for the 2026 ATP Finals, becoming the first French player to reach the season-ending tournament since Gaël Monfils in 2016. His place was confirmed before he had played his opening match at the Paris Masters, after compatriot Quentin Halys beat American Frances Tiafoe 6-3, 1-6, 7-6 (11-9).

The ATP Finals bring together the season’s eight leading players. This year’s event is scheduled to take place in Turin, Italy, from November 15 to 22. Fils, currently ranked seventh in the world, is due to face Czech player Tomas Machac in the second round of the Paris tournament.

Fils has made a rapid rise in recent seasons. In August, he won the Cincinnati Masters 1000, becoming the first Frenchman to claim a title at that level since Jo-Wilfried Tsonga won in Toronto in 2014. The result helped Fils break into the ATP top 10 a few weeks later.

In a 2023 interview with Eurosport, when he was 18 and approaching the top 100, Fils said he hoped to win a Grand Slam title and compete for the world No. 1 ranking by the age of 23. He is now 22 and has qualified for the biggest year-end event on the men’s tour.
