West Ham have sacked Nuno Espírito Santo following a disappointing run of results, with the club sitting eighth in the Championship. The decision came after last Saturday’s 3-1 defeat by West Bromwich Albion, as the club seeks an immediate return to the Premier League following last season’s relegation.

Nuno took over from Graham Potter in September 2025 and had 33 games to try to keep West Ham in the top flight. The club initially retained him after relegation, but the board has now decided to make a change. In a statement, West Ham said a review of the start to the Championship season had led it to conclude that a change was needed to keep the club’s objectives on track.

Mark Noble, Steve Potts and Gerard Prenderville have taken temporary charge. West Ham travel to Cardiff City on Wednesday as they look to revive their automatic promotion hopes. The club has not identified a clear favourite to become the next head coach, although former West Ham manager Scott Parker has previously had internal support.

Assistant head coach Rui Pedro Silva and goalkeeper coach Rui Barbosa have also left the club. West Ham thanked Nuno and the two coaches for their work and commitment and wished them well for the future.
