Rafael Nadal is set to become a member of Real Madrid’s board, pending ratification by the club’s assembly of representative members on November 21. The board has proposed the appointment of Nadal, who is listed as member No. 67,778 of the club.

The former world No. 1 tennis player said he accepted the proposal with great enthusiasm and wanted to make the greatest contribution possible. If ratified, Nadal will work alongside club president Florentino Pérez.

Real Madrid said it was proud to welcome a figure recognised for his sporting achievements, personal qualities and standing in Spanish and global sport, and said he would contribute to the club’s present and future.
